A Word Of Thanks

None would ever have been so kind as you, 
And were it not for that, I would never have known 
How love is just a whole load of nonsense. 
Someone else might not have given enough of a crap 
To stop deceiving with loving touches,  
Tender kisses, and softly spoken words, 
But you were true to the truth and you cared. 
So I will be forever grateful that you shared 
With me the reality of this stupid thing.  
Yes, you broke my heart and left me weeping 
Such bitter tears I have never cried in my life, 
And may never have cried had you not opened my eyes, 
But that really was for the best, 
Which means we can overlook all the rest. 
So, thank you times a million for being so kind 
And keeping my best interests in mind.  
You have shown me how love kills in the end. 
And I’d like to think I have learnt my lesson well. 
I am sincerely grateful, in spite of the pain. 
To have been taught to never trust in love again.
