What you felt, indeed, was love.
What you did, alas, was lust.
What you wished to share was love.
What you actually exchanged was lust.
Though reducing it to a carnal term
Seems to you somewhat unjust,
While your need at the core was love,
The way you met it can only be called lust.
Because love is good and pure
And belongs out in the light,
While lust hides itself away,
As it knows it isn’t right.
So to walk far from this now is love,
And to never look back is a must.
For what can save you yet is Love,
But what could yet be your undoing is lust.
