Fragments of my life
Remain stored away
In a basement somewhere
In the U S of A
Reflection-filled pages
Written on a journey
Taken pre-marriage
To the land of God
Now retro-cool cassettes
Their titles long-forgotten
Though I'll be able to recall every lyric
The instant they are replayed
Dictionary and thesaurus
Tools of a phantom calling
Tainted by the echo of
A woman’s bookstore tirade
Photos, bedding, tea towels
Receipts for placating purchases
A bag of memories, good and bad
Another of what-could-have-beens
But the best bit of that time
Came away with me when I left
So I give thanks for the adventure
And let go of all the rest
