Day Of Reckoning

I am afraid to open my eyes 
Because of what I will see 
My heart desires to know the truth 
But I know it will accuse me 
All the wrong I have done 
Will be shown to me clearly 
And I cannot turn to face it 
Because I know I will regret it dearly 
So I’ll wander on with eyes tightly-shut 
Until I get to the sea 
Where the waves of my wilful ignorance 
Can come and drown me
