I feel your life slipping from my hand
As I hold to yours ever tighter
This can’t be the end that I’m seeing
This can’t be the one called The Fighter
Each breath you take grows shallower
Chest beneath the sheet doesn’t rise
I want to hold onto you forever
But I prepare for final goodbyes
I’m grieving for you already
And for those you are leaving behind
As you find you way to a better place
Emptiness is all we will find
Now you’re talking emotions
When you never admitted to them before
It’s a side to you I haven’t seen
This scares me but it scares you more
So I hold your hand even tighter
While outside the sky gets lighter
And I say my goodbyes to the fighter
Rest in peace my dear fighter
