Recognition

There was something definite 
In that first encounter, Lord. 
A glint of the eternal in his eye. 
A connection that lodged him 
In my heart instantly, 
Letting him walk in without question, 
As though it had already been 
His forever home. 

So when he says he feels like 
He’s always known me, God, 
Could that possibly be true? 
Because that would explain 
Why it feels to me 
Like I already know him too. 
And maybe we didn’t meet 
For the first time that morning, 
But we actually met again, 
Having met once long before 
In Your pre-life realm. 

They say these (re)connections happen, 
So could that apply to this? 
Because if that isn’t the reason 
For the recognition, God, 
Then please do tell me, what is?
